Privacy

PingStalker's developer takes privacy very seriously. So for full transparency, here are all the outgoing connections from this software defined:

  1. Network Scan - A network scan will trigger a number or requests on your local network including ICMP, DNS (which may be internal or external, defined by the interfaces), mDNS, SMB/NetBIOS, and TCP port connections (as netcat/nc would do).
  2. Software Update - Every time the program opens, if more than 24 hours has gone by, an update will be performed by checking: https://www.pingstalker.com/appcast.xml. For more details on this process, please see here: https://sparkle-project.org/documentation/
  3. Lemon Squeezy - On every startup, PingStalker attempts to connect to Lemon Squeezy to verify active license state. There are a number of other attempts when first licensing the software, or starting a trial. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy can be found here: Privacy Policy

No other connections are ever made from the software to the Internet or local network except the above. No data from captures, app crashes, or any other data collection are sent off-machine. Network logs are lost when the app closes. Captures are not stored in any way, but instead, are analyzed live and discarded. Filters on the captures are set to be as limiting as possible for security and performance reasons.
